2026

  1. Rome, Florence & Pisa

    Italy

    A late-summer trip through Rome, Florence and Pisa. In Rome we walked through the Colosseum and the Roman Forum, stopped at the Trevi Fountain, and spent a day in Vatican City between St. Peter’s Basilica and the Vatican Museums. Then north to Florence, with a detour to Pisa to see the Leaning Tower.

  2. Dubrovnik & Koločep

    Croatia

    Wandered the rain-slicked stone lanes of Dubrovnik’s old town, then crossed to Koločep, a small car-free island just off the coast, for a day of jet skiing and ziplining.

  3. Mysore

    Karnataka, India

    A February trip to Mysore, the old royal capital of Karnataka. We toured Mysore Palace, went up Chamundi Hills to the Chamundeshwari Temple and the giant Nandi statue, walked through St. Philomena’s Cathedral and the flower stalls of Devaraja Market, and stayed for the evening fountain show at Brindavan Gardens.

  1. Varkala

    Kerala, India

    A late-November trip to Varkala, the cliff-top beach town on Kerala’s coast. We got around by scooter, went parasailing over the Arabian Sea, and ate far too much fresh seafood at the cafés along the cliff.

  2. Glacier National Park

    Montana, USA

    A late-summer trip to Glacier National Park in northwest Montana. We drove the Going-to-the-Sun Road up over Logan Pass, hiked out to the Hidden Lake Overlook, walked the Trail of the Cedars to Avalanche Lake, stopped for Wild Goose Island on St. Mary Lake, and finished at Lake McDonald with its rainbow-coloured pebbles.

  3. North Cascades & Diablo Lake

    Washington, USA

    A mid-August trip into the North Cascades. We took the North Cascades Highway into the mountains and spent the afternoon kayaking on Diablo Lake, its glacier-fed water an unreal turquoise under the forested slopes.

  1. Mount Hood

    Oregon, USA

    A February weekend skiing on Mount Hood with two friends. The lodge roof was buried under a thick shelf of snow, and we spent the day on rental skis, working our way down the beginner runs.
